Mazda Protege Random Stalling and No start Fix
i have recently been working on a few Mazda Proteges ranging from 1990 to 1993 with the 1.8 ltr and the most common cause of the no start or stalling happens to be the coolant temp sensor, it tells the ECU what temp the engine is at the colder the engine is the richer the fuel and vise versa it will lean out if to hot. even if you dont have a check engine light on its worth the 15 to change the sensor to see

Signs of an Oil Pump Failure
as you may have noticed you have lost oil pressure in your engine the gauge suddenly drops to zero and you hear nasty noises come from the engine. if you have a light on your dash for Oil it is red with a symbol of a oil can. if you are driving along and you suddenly lose oil pressure pull over safely to the side of the road and turn off your engine, let it sit for a moment and if possible pop your hood. also check your oil after 5 mins if its low and you have oil on you throw a qt or two in the engine or until its within the full mark. start it back up again n listen to the engine if you hear clicking/tapping from the top end of the engine n the light is still on TURN OFF YOUR ENGINE. if you hear a KNOCKING noise then TURN OFF YOUR ENGINE, depending on mileage and or overall care of your engine. you may have had an oil pump failure. if you had your oil changed lately by you or by a shop then you might want to see if there is a puddle of oil underneath your vehicle. at this time. if you can see the oil streaming out of the bottom of your engine on to the ground then either you had a loose oil filter or the drain plug wasn't tighten up properly. here are two videos below hope this helps
